Detectives of the Johannesburg Central Police Station arrested a 30-year-old suspect for possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition at a flat on the corner of Rahima Moosa and End streets in Joburg Central on the evening of 12 April.
The community once again assisted local police who said they received a tip-off about a suspect who was in possession of two unlicensed firearms. Spokesperson for Johannesburg Central Police, Captain Xoli Mbele said officers found the suspect inside his room. “They recovered two unlicensed firearms, ammunitions of pistols, a pump gun and rifle. They also confiscated a knife, two orange reflectors, one pair of knee covers, elbow covers, two security caps and one green face mask.” Mbele said all these were found in a bag and confirmed that the security equipment was fake.
An investigation is underway and the suspect is due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
