Man succumbs to gunshot wounds in Braamfontein

HILBROW – The police spokesperson said that no arrests have been made yet.

A man succumbed to his wounds after he was shot in Braamfontein.

According to Hillbrow Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, the fatal shooting took place on the corner of Juta and De Beers streets on the night of 18 May.

“The 36-year-old deceased was sitting with a friend in an Audi; while a BMW  X5 with two occupants drove past and fired shots at the one sitting at the driver’s seat. The victim died instantly while the friend remained unharmed,” explained Zondo.

He added that witnesses confirmed this information. Zondo said that emergency services at the scene certified that the 36-year-old was dead and that a total of 11 cartridges had been spent.

The police spokesperson said at this stage there have been no arrests. “A case of murder was opened and we are investigating. Anyone with information should please come forward.”
