Weapon-wielding suspect arrested

Members of the Hillbrow crime prevention unit arrested an armed suspect (44 years old) on 6 April.

The unit officers were patrolling along the 4th and 1st streets in Killarney when they received a complaint about a shooting.

The officers arrived and found a person stabbed on the upper body – the suspect fired two shots when he saw the police.

Spokesperson for Hillbrow Police Station Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said, “He ran away but the police cornered the suspect and arrested him, an unlicensed firearm was recovered with the serial number filed off as well as a knife.”

The suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
