Police secure the arrest of three suspects over the weekend
BRAMLEY – Police arrested two men allegedly involved in a house robbery in Bramley on 16 April.
Two suspects were nabbed following an alleged house robbery committed in Bramley on 16 April.
According to Bramley police spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, at about 9 pm, three men entered the complainant’s house and one of them threatened the complainant and his family with a firearm.
“Two of the men tied the hands of the occupants of the house with shoelaces and then proceeded to remove valuable items from the house,” said Mogodi.
He added that while the men were busy removing items from the house, the alarm went off and the men ran away.
“CAP security managed to apprehend two suspects who were then handed over to police. The firearm allegedly used in the robbery was seized and further investigation revealed that its serial number was filed off. Two suspects, aged 24 and 37 shall appear in court soon.”
In a separate incident, police members who were patrolling in the Wynberg area arrested a 26-year-old man for being in possession of a replica firearm.
“It is alleged that on 17 April at 5.15pm, the members noticed four men who looked suspicious along Andries Street and stopped to search them.”
Mogodi said upon seeing the police, three of the men ran away but the officers managed to apprehend the fourth man.
“When searched, he was found in possession of a replica [gun] wrapped in a jacket. He was then arrested and detained at the Bramley Police Station and is due to appear in court soon.”
