Police are investigating a case of a man who was seen in a video driving his car towards the News Café in Rosebank and damaging three vehicles in the parking lot.
Rosebank Management District (RMD) precinct manager Lerato Khiba confirmed that the incident took place on the evening of 23 April.
“The suspect, who wasn’t a patron, came in already intoxicated and went to speak to his estranged partner. The conversation turned into a scuffle and the café security chased him out. That was when he went to his car and started driving towards the café, damaging three vehicles in the process, including an RMD Excellerate vehicle,” Khiba said.

She added that it took six men to subdue the suspect.

Rosebank Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said the suspect appeared in court on 26 April on charges of reckless and negligent driving, drunken driving, and causing an accident.
“There is still more that needs to be done regarding the investigation, hence, we await the outcome of the case.”
