Joburg Water commences Parkwood Sewer Project
PARKWOOD – Joburg Water announces the commencement of the sewer replacement project.
Joburg Water has announced that they will be starting with the next part phase of the sewer replacement project in Parkwood.
The date of commencement is to be announced soon and the project is expected to take six months to complete. The project will cost around R18 million, and construction will take up a distance of 3km, where 200 and 250mm pipes will be inserted into old pipes.
“They will not have to dig trenches in the sidewalk, but will have to excavate about 50 deep holes at various places to access the sewer,” said Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck.
The areas to be affected are:
- Denbigh Road from Jan Smuts Avenue to Dorset Road
- Newport Road from Crescent Road to Westwold Way
- Crescent Road from Flint Road to Cardigan Road
- Flint Road from Denbigh Road to 1st sanitary lane
- Dorset Road from Chester Road to just after Denbigh Road
- Dee Road from Dorset Road to 1st sanitary lane.
“Twelve sanitary lanes will be affected in addition to the above areas, and will affect properties that are on either side of the servitudes,” Truluck added.
Johannesburg Water appealed for patience from residents during the excavation for the project.
