St John’s proud of top achieving Sixth Form learners

HOUGHTON – After producing a fantastic set of 2020 St John’s Sixth Form Cambridge results, a number of learners featured in the Best in South Africa and High Achievement categories in their AS and A Level exams.

St John’s College in Houghton is proud of its Sixth Form learners who were listed in the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards recently.

According to the school’s marketing manager Jacqui Deeks, these awards recognise exceptional learning achievement in the Cambridge exams around the world.

After producing a fantastic set of 2020 St John’s Sixth Form Cambridge results, a number of learners featured in the Best in South Africa and High Achievement categories in their AS and A-Level exams.

Micaela Marais achieved the best marks in the country across her three A-Level subjects, making her the top A-Level learner in South Africa.

Head of St John’s Sixth Form Kate Byrne said, “These awards are a recognition of these students’ ability and motivation and we celebrate and acknowledge their commitment to excellence. We also celebrate and acknowledge our excellent teachers for the dedication and expertise they offer our students, enabling success for all.”

Outstanding results were as follows:

  • Raeesah Jadwat achieved the top result for AS Level chemistry in South Africa
  • Karla Swanepoel achieved the top A-Level result in South Africa for Afrikaans
  • Micaela Marais achieved the top A-Level result in South Africa for mathematics (98 per cent)
  • Isabella Hope achieved the top A-Level result in South Africa for physics.

High achievements:

  • Isabella Hope achieved a high achievement in AS Level for further mathematics
  • Henry Rochester achieved a high achievement in A-Level for French
  • Micahel Ogilvie achieved a high achievement in A-Level for geography
  • Kaya Borkowski achieved a high achievement in A-Level for history (92 per cent)
  • Alex Amadasum achieved a high achievement in A-Level for English literature.

Micaela Marais achieved the best results in South Africa across all three of her A-Level subjects, which include mathematics, physics, and further mathematics.
