Inaugural Parktown Tennis Championship ends on a high

PARKVIEW – In the singles championship, Tasmiyah Suleman took first place while Diyaanah Essay took home silver and Fatima Ravat was the eliminator champion.

Parktown Girl’s recently hosted the inaugural Parktown Tennis Championship at the school.

Director of sport Catherine McCreesh said, “The school’s top tennis players came together to play against each other in a singles section as well as a doubles section.”

The championship took place over three days and ended off on a high.

“The players had great fun and walked away with certificates of participation and medals for the players that won special awards,” added McCreesh.

Results were as follows:

In the singles championship, Tasmiyah Suleman took first place while Diyaanah Essay took home silver and Fatima Ravat was the eliminator champion.

In the doubles championship, Diyaanah Essay and Erin Hurly took first place followed by Imaan Haffejee and Tasmiyah Suleman in second and Tasmiyah Bhamjee and Kayla Rosenberg in third.

Special awards were given to the following players:

  • Singles champion: Tasmiyah Suleman
  • Doubles champions: Dayaanah Essay and Erin Hurly
  • Eliminator champion: Fatima Ravat
  • Most improved player: Angela Hudleston
  • Most promising player: Erin Hurly.
