Join the Puppies in the Park fundraiser

MELROSE – The Volkswagen enthusiast club welcomes VW and other car drivers to join. Entries cost R50 per car.

The Volkswagen Club South Africa (VWCSA) invites dog lovers to join their Puppies in the Park event on February 20.

The event, which is in its seventh consecutive year, is a fundraiser for Woodrock Animal Rescue.

Chairman of VWCSA Jonno Coetzer said locals were invited to bring along their car and spend some time with the dogs of Woodrock in James and Ethel Grey Park at the corner of Edgewood and North Street, Melrose, between 10:00 and 16:00.

Coetzer said, “The event name is Puppies in the Park but the rescuers are known to bring fully grown dogs. Previously, we’ve seen kittens as well, and even piglets the one year. The animals come from Woodrock Animal Rescue. Besides trying to raise funds, the other aim is to potentially find some of these animals a home.”

Coetzer said the past event had raised R10 000 and this year, the organisers aimed to match or even exceed this amount.
