Inquest case opened after Sergeant allegedly shoots girlfriend and turns gun on himself

NORWOOD – Sello said the circumstances that led to the incident are unknown at this stage, but the police investigation continues.

Police have opened a murder and inquest case after a 34-year-old Sergeant shot his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself on March 19.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said, “The woman was certified dead on the scene while the man died at the hospital.”

Sello said that the circumstances that led to the incident are unknown at this stage, but the police investigation continues.

According to a statement from CAP Security, the incident occurred around 10:00 at a property at the corner of Nellie Road and Grant Avenue in Norwood.

CAP said that there were children on the scene who have since been handed to their father.
