Crawford Park opened to public

New leisure and relaxation space for locals in Waverley.

Waverley Residents, Ratepayers and Homeowners Association held the official opening of Crawford Park on May 22.

The chairperson of the association Tracey Lavers said they were dedicated to reclaiming green spaces, and improving and enhancing all three parks in Waverley for the enjoyment of its residents.

“It has taken just over six months to take a derelict piece of land and have the vision to turn it into a park which the community can enjoy,” Lavers added.

She said they were also putting the park on Google Maps as it had not featured there or on any other maps previously.

“I would like to thank all our sponsors for their support, as well as our councillor Belinda Echeozonjoku for her aid in dealing with City Parks and MMC of Community Development councillor Ronald Harris for coming to share the opening with us.

“It was a wonderful day and I hope that the trees we planted will be enjoyed by future generations of residents. Crawford Park, in my opinion, is now a central part of Waverley and a huge success.”

The opening of the park was in partnership with Community Active Protection, Waverley residents, Schaeffler’s garden nursery and landscaping, and City Parks.
