Safe, supportive, and encouraging netball club at Greenside High

A local club is looking for netball lovers to join the team.

Growing up in a netball family gave Maria Singh the confidence to follow in her family’s footsteps.

Hailing from a small east coast suburb called Tauranga in New Zealand, Singh started playing netball at school and progressed to clubs, representative level (provincial equivalent), and then national level.

“Even though I adore netball, I took a break from it to conquer the world and ended up making a difference in the disability sector as CEO for large-scale organisations in Australia,” she said.

She added returning to her husband’s home country of South Africa and setting up a new life had been difficult for her, and netball had helped her find her feet again.

“My drive and passion to want to get back into netball have been my very reasons for founding and forming a netball club based at Greenside High School.”

Singh said she was grateful and very lucky to have the support of the school and their graciousness in allowing them to conduct their training, tournaments, and league games there.

“NetballerZ Coaching Academy is an entity tied to the Greenside Parks Netball Club that provides specialist netball coaching clinics and master class sessions to all age groups.”

She elaborated that the coaches were just as passionate about the sport and dedicated to building the netball community.

“The environment we provide is safe, supportive, and encouraging and focuses on fitness and skill building. For those who want to join and be part of our netball family are welcome.”

Singh hoped to build the sport within the Parks, Rosebank, and Greenside areas as there was a huge demand for it.

“I hope this year becomes fruitful and our netball academy grows into a well-created sporting community.”
