Nedbank celebrated its YX23 awards at Constitutional Hill

YouthX is a movement designed to uplift, develop, and unlock the youth’s potential.

Nedbank hosted and celebrated its YX23 award winner at Constitutional Hill on November 18.

YouthX is a movement designed to uplift, develop, and unlock the youth’s potential through an exchange programme powered by Nedbank.

It aims to connect the youth to like-minded people, give them access to the resources and inspiration they need to unlock their passions, and allow them to enter their work to win life-changing prizes (such as mentorship, bursaries, cash, and other valuable items).

YouthX Awards form part of Nedbank’s purpose leg of the YouthX movement, which aims to recognise and celebrate the top 10 South African youth who are unlocking their X and making a change in their communities.

The top 10 nominees included: Me2You founded by Amukelani Michael Mhlongo is redefining food consumption and distribution, NOGO founded by Asivile Mondile is a revolutionary solution combating theft through embedded SIM technology and Yanda Cosmetics founded by Ayanda Majola is a skincare brand driven by personal struggle, making medical-grade treatments accessible.

Wihan Joubert who established Drip Markets, an online thrifting marketplace that empowers students to buy, sell, and interact with second-hand clothing walked away as the YX23 winner.

Nedbank’s Retail and business banking marketing executive head, Buli Ndlovu said choosing a winner was not an easy task, “We received over 800 entries, but it started with a call to entry where we encouraged young people to come forward with their business ideas and asked them how they are effecting change in their communities and their communities. We had a panel of judges who sieved through entry with strict criteria to find out who deserved to be in the top 10.”

Ndlovu added that the winner would be getting financial support and mentors to walk the new journey with.

TikTok star and MC, Primo Baloyi noted that he jumped on board with YouthX’s initiative because he believed in the good work it did for the youth.

“I believe that the next step lies in empowering and working towards the next step, you need to give a helping hand give knowledge, and create opportunities. This is also a powerful platform that if used right, can take an individual far, it empowers the youth at the right time when they are starting their businesses, thinking about independence which is important.”
