The documentary series puts South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) process under the microscope. Guests share their thoughts on episode one…

Tumelo Chipfupa: I think the episode was a story beautifully told in the sense that the filmmaker handled it with sensitivity and respect due to the story being a heavy one filled with history.
Itumeleng Magoai: Episode 1 highlighted the role of family and how trauma is still prevalent in our society today. The episode also speaks to how we wanted to accelerate the idea of the rainbow nation and expect the nation to heal from apartheid’s atrocities.
Twiggs Xiphu: It was interesting and informative. However, there were two areas where the filmmaker could have explored which are: talking to the perpetrators and the sellout aspect which was not looked into.
Dorothy Calata: My takeaway from episode one is the continuation of the storytelling of the victims’ families and what the intergenerational trauma has caused and its effects.
