Rodean School SA’s choir sings its way to the USA

The Roedean Senior School (SA) choir embarks on a six-city concert tour across USA.

The Roedean Senior School (SA) choir is currently embarking on a six-city concert tour across the United States of America (USA) to showcase its talents to an international audience.

The tour includes stops in Boston, New York, Princeton, Philadelphia, and Washington.

The trip which started on April 11, the tour will conclude on April 27 when learners return home.

Executive director at Roedean Lindi Dlamini said the school was immensely proud of the learners representing Roedean as they travel and perform for international audiences.

“We celebrate their development and the invaluable experiences they are acquiring on this exciting and educational international tour, aimed at fostering confidence and responsibility through musical accomplishments.”

She added that the school ensured that the learners visited leading all-girls private schools in the United States with strong arts programmes to provide them with holistic insights into their skills and talents.

The Choir Tour has seen successful performances, including a show at Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, a concert at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, and a collaboration with the famous Mama Foundation for the Arts in Harlem.

The choir is also scheduled to perform at Princeton High School, collaborate with the Philadelphia Girls Choir, and engage in a full-day programme with the West Nottingham Academy before concluding their tour with a performance alongside the National Cathedral Girls and St Albans in Washington.

Roedean’s Music Director, Marius Brink reflected on the musical tour, “We are immensely proud of the Roedean Senior Choir, not only as representatives of our school but also as ambassadors of South Africa. Their presence in the USA not only showcased their musical talents but also served as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of our nation.”
