St Teresa’s learners raise funds in pyjamas for Reach For A Dream
Pyjama and Slipper Day is one of the most anticipated events on the Rosie calendar.
There was a cheerful buzz in the air at St Teresa’s Junior School on May 30 as learners arrived dressed in cosy pyjamas and soft slippers, ready for a day that combined fun with purpose.
This year’s Pyjama Day was extra special as it coincided with Slipper Day, a national fundraising campaign run by Reach For A Dream.

Slipper Day is held annually across South Africa to raise funds for children living with life-threatening illnesses. By purchasing a sticker and wearing slippers, participants demonstrate their support for the foundation’s mission to help children fulfil their dreams and experience moments of joy and hope during challenging times.
St Teresa’s embraced the cause with heartwarming enthusiasm. The Junior Rosies arrived in a delightful mix of fluffy dressing gowns, cartoon pyjamas and brightly coloured slippers. Teachers also joined in the spirit, helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the day. Pyjama Day is always a highlight on the school calendar, but pairing it with Slipper Day made it even more meaningful.

Lianda May, admissions and marketing liaison, said, “At St Teresa’s, supporting Reach for a Dream’s Slipper Day is more than just wearing slippers – it’s about walking in solidarity with children facing life-threatening illnesses. This initiative speaks directly to our mercy values of compassion, collaboration, and service. Reminding our Rosies that even small acts of kindness can bring comfort, hope and joy to those in need.”
As an extra treat, parents took time out of their day to surprise the learners with steaming mugs of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. The sweet gesture brought wide smiles and excitement as the learners sipped on their hot chocolate.
Through the simple act of wearing slippers and pyjamas, the St Teresa’s community came together to support a cause that brings dreams to life. And in doing so, they created a few dreams of their own – filled with warmth, laughter and the comforting promise that kindness can change lives.
