Hope School hosts brunch to celebrate children with disabilities
Hope School’s brunch brought powerful voices to the table, showing that disability is not a limitation but a different kind of strength.
Hope School hosted a heartfelt brunch on 23 June to celebrate children with disabilities and acknowledge their individual journeys.
Grade 5 learner Kutlwano Masalesa shared his story with confidence, explaining how a knee injury that became infected led to his disability. “My disability gave me great friends and wonderful teachers,” he said. “Love yourself for who you are.”

Lexi Stark, an occupational therapist at the school, spoke about the benefits of extramural activities for children with disabilities. She highlighted how these activities build confidence and connection but added that the high cost often limits access.
Teachers reflected on their experiences supporting learners with disabilities, both through homeschooling and daily school life. They emphasised the importance of adapting lessons, encouraging independence, and creating inclusive spaces where every child can thrive.
The brunch was a powerful reminder of the resilience, joy, and potential found in each child, no matter their challenges.
