Rosebank Management District precinct manager Mikhaela Donaldson, on June 20, said the district remained committed to the node being accessible and functional. “A functional taxi rank is vital to the business and economy of the node. We look forward to seeing the next phase of work executed, and are engaging with the relevant stakeholders and entities to ensure that, following this phase of work, further interventions are pursued to address the overflow and holding needs of the taxis. Effective public transport, as well as a well managed and attractive urban environment around the rank, is required to support investment, growth, and sustainability of the node.”
The facility, located on Cradock Avenue, with access from Biermann and Jelicoe avenues, serves as a critical transport hub in the rapidly expanding Rosebank precinct.

“This upgrade,” according to a media release by JDA’s CEO Themba Mathibe, “will improve the daily experience of commuters, as well as enhancing supporters’ inclusive economic activity through better facilities for informal traders. JDA remains committed to working with all stakeholders to deliver a resilient, accessible, and future-ready transport node.”
To address this, the project has been designed in two distinct phases:
Phase 1: Town planning process, including road closures, and land consolidation.
Phase 2: Planning, design, and construction of key facility enhancements, including: a new ablution block, hawker stalls, and a designated eating area.
