Five-day power-outage leaves Highlands North residents frustrated.
Highlands North residents live in hope that City Power will resolve their power-outage situation.
A five-day power outage has left Highlands North residents cold and frustrated.
Resident Alison Simon alerted the Gazette on July 2 about the frustrating issue of not having electricity since June 28. Simon explained that it was not the first time the area experienced power outages. “It’s probably the third time this year this is happening. It’s not acceptable because the problem isn’t being fixed; it’s just being patched.”

A reporter met with councillor Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjuku on site where a team was digging, working on the suspected fault. Kayser-Echeozonjuku said: “City Power is now present on site. The lack of communication and updates has been frustrating for the residents. I have been in communication with City Power who have said they’re working on getting the power restored.”

She added that she understood that there were people who relied heavily on their appliances, especially for their medicine, and she was doing everything possible to get the matter sorted with City Power.
The Gazette will provide an update with City Power’s response.
