Parkhurst garden grows more than just food
Grow Parkhurst is a community garden where anyone can pick fresh food, for free.
Tucked behind the Parkhurst Recreation Centre is a small garden with a big heart. Grow Parkhurst is a volunteer-run project where fresh herbs, fruits and veggies are grown and shared with the community for free.

Started over 11 years ago, the garden has become a place where people plant together, learn about composting, and build connections. From lemons to rosemary, echinacea to kale, everything is grown with care and a spirit of giving.
Residents and community volunteers help in their spare time planting, watering, or tending to the compost. Others support the garden by donating money, tools, or resources to help keep it growing strong.
“We grow food for the people, by the people,” says volunteer Pauline Borton. “It’s about more than gardening, it’s about community.”
As the seasons change, so too does the garden, a living reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together. With continued support, Grow Parkhurst hopes to expand its reach and plant the seeds of food security, learning and connection across the neighbourhood.
