Johannesburg Water is sourcing a specialised contractor to repair the pipe on Glenhove Road and Central Street in Houghton.

Johannesburg Water is aware of the burst pipe on Glenhove Road and Central Street in Houghton, which poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians.

The Gazette on August 24 reported that the flooding excavation had not received attention from Johannesburg Water, despite the councillor for Ward 74, Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjuku, saying she reported the matter on August 8.

Responding to a video and tweet by a reporter from the Gazette on August 25, the water utility said, “Good day, due to the location of the burst (on the bridge), we are sourcing a specialised contractor to repair the pipe. Teams will return to the site to resolve the leak.”

The Gazette awaits further response from Johannesburg Water and will update the story when provided
