Mindful Kids: Planting Seeds of Peace, Joy & Confidence

"Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future." – John F. Kennedy

In today’s fast-paced world, children face challenges their parents could never      have imagined — the constant pull of screens, the pressures of school, peer influence, and the noise of modern life.

But in the heart of Johannesburg, something special is happening: young minds are learning how to pause, breathe, and connect with their inner calm.

The Mindful Kids Class, hosted by Brahma Kumaris Johannesburg, is a safe, joyful space where children aged 6–13 explore the art of mindfulness in creative and playful ways.

From guided meditations and positive affirmations to fun breathing games and visualization exercises, the sessions are designed to help kids strengthen self-awareness, focus, and emotional resilience.

The program also nurtures timeless values — peace, love, kindness, and respect – weaving them into activities that children genuinely enjoy.

Whether it’s lying in the grass forming a star-shaped circle, creating colourful posters about love and compassion, or simply laughing together during group exercises, the atmosphere is one of joy, inclusion, and trust.

Parents often remark how these classes not only make their children calmer and  more confident but also inspire positive changes at home. ‘They come back more peaceful and happier,’ one parent shared. ‘They’re learning life skills that will last forever.’

Through mindfulness, kids learn to stay present, build self-awareness, and develop positive thinking.

The class introduces values like peace, love, and joy through guided meditations, affirmations, creative visualisation, and breathing exercises – all designed to support inner strength and emotional wellbeing.
