Fatal M1 South accident closes highway
Traffic chaos ensued on the M1 South due to a reported multiple vehicle accident.
Motorists experienced significant delays as emergency services responded to the scene of a fatal accident on September 9.
The M1 South, near 11th Avenue in Houghton, was closed earlier on today. The collision involved two vehicles resulting in a complete closure of all four lanes on the southbound highway.
Drivers were encouraged to use alternate routes. Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers were managing the situation and directing traffic.
JMPD said they could not confirm how many fatalities there are.
