Pirates Club chairman is excited about the sports club’s future
Pirates Club is in the process of building an AstroTurf
Pirates Club bids farewell to a successful 2024 as Best of Joburg Best Sports Club winners and looks forward to 2025.
Club chairman Brad Guymer said the club would not have been as successful without the support of its members, friends, and the surrounding communities.
“We have witnessed great improvements such as new security measures and upgrades on the tennis courts, as well as many successful events such as the Pirates 21km annual run, and many days supporting the Springboks.”

The club is building its own AstroTurf which will allow its growing hockey section to practise at the club after years of training and playing at surrounding schools and other venues.
“We are very proud as we were the Best of Joburg Best Sports Club/Venue in 2023 and 2024. These prestigious awards are impossible without the great people we are surrounded by daily and our members, friends, and supporters are the backbone of Pirates.”

The club wished their barman, Reckson a happy retirement after 48 years of service to the Pirates Club.
“Starting as a young 18-year-old and leaving a much wiser madala, we hope he spends his retirement years with his feet up and a drink in hand. We are going to miss you so much Recks,” said Guymer.
The club chairman concluded that 2025 was around the corner and hopes that their members have many more exciting days and nights spent at the special club. “We thank you for the continuous support over the years. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
