Queens Road excavation slows traffic and poses danger to pedestrians

The two-year water leak on Queens Road has been stopped, but the excavation remains, and it’s a danger to motorists and pedestrians.

A two-year old water leak on Queens Road in Parktown may have stopped, but the dug-up debris and exposed waterpipes pose a danger, not only to motorists, but to pedestrians as well.

Resident Maria Mena, who approached the publication last year in November about the two-year-old water leak which has now stopped, said she was worried about the dug-up debris. “The exposed water pipes were dug up about two months ago and have been left in that state since.

The excavation poses a hazard to the cars, which have to slow down to avoid causing accidents.”

The Gazette reached out to Johannesburg Water on May 20 for a response and was told the matter was escalated to its depot manager.
