Community groups and authorities join forces for successful clean-up operation

Residents of Norwood celebrate a collaborative effort to beautify public spaces and enhance neighbourhood safety.

The Norwood South African Police Service (SAPS), Community Police Forum (CPF), Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), and other local agencies teamed up on July 31 for a major clean-up along Melrose Street, Glenhove, Corlett Drive, and Riviera Road.

The initiative aimed to improve cleanliness, safety, and property values in the area.

Ward councillors Belinda Echeozonjoku and Eleanor Hugget were praised for their support, while CPF chairperson Sunil Geness emphasised the importance of community feedback. “Your voice matters greatly to us, and we want you to know that you have been heard,” he said.

Residents can expect more regular clean-up efforts as part of an ongoing commitment to maintaining Norwood’s public spaces.
