New head coach appointed to lead DP World Women’s Lions into next season
After over a decade with the Lions, Sandile Masengemi takes on a new challenge as head coach of the DP World Women’s Lions.
The DP World Women’s Lions have welcomed Sandile Masengemi as their new head coach. Having been part of the Lions team for 10 years, including his time as assistant coach, Masengemi steps into the role following a successful period under Shaun Pretorius, who helped steer the Lionesses to major domestic titles.
Masengemi brings a wealth of experience, with a coaching journey that began nearly two decades ago. He has led teams across levels, guided Gauteng’s U19s to national success, and worked closely with some of South Africa’s top cricketers.

What drives him is simple: helping players grow, both in skill and as individuals. He hopes to build on past success by introducing new ideas, especially for the younger talent making their way into the senior team.
With his eye on defending titles and setting new standards, Masengemi is ready to lead a team that already has strong foundations and rising stars worth watching.
