Pirates bowls players end season with a feast and fresh champions
From fierce finals to cappuccinos and camaraderie, Pirates Bowls Section wrapped up its competition season in true style.
It was more than just about bowls on August 17, when the Pirates Bowls Section brought their competition season to a close.
After 14 weeks of play, and 174 matches, the morning’s finals gave way to laughter and celebration as members gathered at the Green Room for a long lunch and prize-giving.

The spotlight fell on new champions, Mark McManus and Bronwyn Gleeson, who lifted the Men’s and Ladies’ titles, respectively. Their victories capped off a season filled with competitive spirit and good humour, including the welcome participation of ten debutants.
Behind the scenes, chairperson Paul Elliott, and his committee, kept the day running smoothly, while Ilona ‘Meisie’ Delany worked her magic with the Green Room team to create a festive setting.
Adding an extra buzz to the afternoon were newcomers, The Ear Institute, stepping in as sponsors. With cappuccinos and bottled water in hand, courtesy of the Rosebank branch led by Tania Conradie, guests toasted the champions and the end of another memorable season.
