Caxton House blood drive hits its target

Caxton House hosted a successful blood drive with SANBS, reaching its target of 20 donors and helping to save lives.

South Africa faces a pressing challenge: Only one out of every 140 people regularly donates blood, leaving hospitals battling shortages that place thousands of lives at risk.

With this in mind, the Caxton House blood drive, held on September 11 in partnership with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), was such a vital success.

The goal was to collect blood from 20 volunteers. By the end of the day, the target was met, thanks to the generosity of staff and community members who rolled up their sleeves.

“Every unit of blood has the power to save up to three lives,” explained Roxanne Prinsloo of SANBS. “With 20 donors, we’ve potentially helped as many as 60 patients. That’s an incredible impact.”

Each donation is separated into red blood cells, plasma, and platelets; meaning one person’s contribution can reach three different patients in desperate need. It’s a gift money cannot buy and science cannot recreate.

Your blood truly saves lives. Will you be the next to give?
