Parkview is gearing up for its Heritage Festival on September 24, with wine tastings, book talks, children’s activities and a community spirit that’s bringing the suburb to life.

In the weeks leading up to the festival, locals have been hard at work giving their neighbourhood a facelift. From clearing graffiti and repairing collapsed walls to sprucing up gardens and making walkways safer for pedestrians, a true spirit of community has shone through. The Parkview Residents’ Association, the Westcliff Residents’ Association, Johannesburg Zoo, Japari School, Mary’s Cannabis Co. and local businesses have all rolled up their sleeves to ensure Parkview is ready to welcome the crowds.

For those who love a good glass of wine, ParkWine will showcase an impressive selection of nearly 90 wines from acclaimed estates including Graham Beck, Ataraxia, Painted Wolf, Walker Bay Estate and many more. Meanwhile, ParkWords will bring together a line-up of celebrated authors, journalists and thinkers, from Justice Edwin Cameron to Mondli Makhanya, in lively panel discussions hosted in much-loved local venues such as Blind Tiger, Croft & Co and Trabella Pizzeria.

Families have not been forgotten either. Children can look forward to a dedicated play and creativity space curated by POPArt, where they’ll enjoy storytelling, theatre workshops, print-making and plenty of games.
Festival-goers also stand a chance of winning big, with a Lucky Draw offering prizes worth over R60 000. With tickets ranging from just R50 to R250, and Lucky Draw entries priced at R20, the festival promises an affordable day out that blends culture, fun and community spirit.
Thanks to the support of sponsors such as Exclusive Books, Jonathan Ball Publishers, Ultra Liquors and a host of local property groups and businesses, the Parkview Heritage Festival is set to be a day of books, bites, bubbles and buzzing energy.

Tickets are available through the Parkview Residents’ Association website: parkview.org.za.
