M1 bridge repairs in Houghton will soon see completion

After Johannesburg Water’s repair and cleaning of the M1 bridge, JRA will reinstate with tar soon, during dry conditions.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), on September 30, confirmed to the Gazette that Johannesburg Water not only completed repairs on the M1 bridge, but also removed rubble on Glenhove Road in Houghton.

Johannesburg Water contractors repaired a pipe burst which caused water to flow onto the M1, posing a hazard to drivers. The repair was complex, due to its location beneath the highway bridge.
