Locals enjoy India Fair at Killarney Mall
The Indian Fair showcases Indian fashion, food, and crafts.
Bold and bright colours, dance, music, Indian fashion, and crafts were showcased on October 3 at the VIP opening ceremony of the India Fair at Killarney Mall.
Sugendre Maistry, the wife of the India Fair organiser, highlighted that the exhibitors weren’t local.
“All the exhibitors that are here are from India. They come to South Africa for three months for their exhibitions and then they leave, and return in Easter.”
Maistry added that the fair was held in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

“It’s our first time at Killarney Mall, and we’re hoping that it’s going to be a success and that we are going to come back.”
Maistry concluded that the fair was her husband’s way of teaching people about India’s rich heritage and culture. ”
My husband is into culture, prayer, and spirituality, so, because of that, this is close to his heart.”
The Indian Fair, now in its 20th year, runs from October 3 until October 19.
