St Teresa’s School learner Khumo Thage achieves her goal
Khumo will lead Marian house and says her selection was surreal.
St Teresa’s School’s learner, Khumo Thage achieved her goal after being elected as a house captain for Marian in 2026.
Khumo said that hearing she was elected as a house captain for 2026 was a surreal experience.
“Becoming a House Captain was a goal of mine from very early in my high school years, and it’s something I’ve been working towards for the past four years.”
She explained that she was given an opportunity to volunteer to be a house captain by sending in an application to the head of sports.

“After this, the Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners within each house voted for the person they thought would be the best leader for the house, from a list of every Grade 11 within that house.”
The leadership position will be her first within the school, and she remains thankful for the opportunity to lead both Marian, and the high school choir.
“This leadership role means a lot to me because I have a great passion towards being a part of something within the school. This is a great opportunity as it allows me to share the joy that doing war cries brings me as there is a sense of collaboration between all grades and shared feelings of pride of being a St Teresa’s Rosie,” concluded Khumo.
