Johannesburg Zoo welcomes adorable baby gibbon

A new arrival at Johannesburg Zoo has visitors swinging with delight – meet Echo, the zoo’s newest baby gibbon.

Johannesburg Zoo is celebrating a special new arrival. On November 23, Neema, a buff-cheeked gibbon, gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Echo.

Louise Gordon, CEO of Johannesburg Zoo, expressed her excitement about the new addition: “We are thrilled to welcome Echo to our gibbon family. It’s always a joy to witness the bond between mother and baby, and Echo has already captured the hearts of our staff and visitors alike.”

The tiny gibbon is settling in well under the care of his attentive mother, Neema. While still very young, Echo’s presence brings an extra dose of energy and charm to the zoo’s primate enclosure.

Zoo staff encourage visitors to come and witness this heartwarming moment in the early life of Echo and Neema, a reminder of the wonders of wildlife and the joy of new beginnings.
