“We have seen significant growth since the last discussion,” said Yaya, “and I have even managed to repay my debt while building the business.”
The Parkhurst nanny turned entrepreneur has partnered with Mamamacs to help increase production and distribution, while her products are now stocked at Garden Fresh in Parktown North and Astron Energy in Parkmore.
“What started in a small kitchen has become something I never imagined. At first, I did not think people would support me the way they have.”
The business has also become more accessible.
“We have moved from only taking orders on Mondays to customers being able to order at any time. Local customers can also order directly from me to reduce courier costs.”
Customers can also order products online through Instagram at @yayas_rusks.

Despite the rapid growth, Yaya still balances baking with her nanny duties and says her love for children remains close to her heart.
“My dream is to open a bakery one day and I have already started taking the first steps. I also want to teach basic cooking and baking because I want to help others grow too.”
Yaya is also currently working on a new cookbook focused on meals, adding yet another chapter to her growing success story.
“At first, I had doubts about whether the business would succeed, but the support from my family and customers has been amazing.”
Supported by family, loyal customers, and her community, Yaya’s journey continues to prove that sometimes the sweetest success stories begin at home.
