Rude Joburg council

Pained Parktown resident writes;

I could not get over the tweet received by your reader.

However, this last weekend I called the council to report a water leak and had a similar response.

As the call finally went through, there were a number of loud beeps (as if a keypad was being punched).

The call centre man, whose name I could not hear, rudely told me to stop pressing my phone buttons as it was hurting his ears.

I replied that it was not me doing any such thing.

Silence. Then I asked if he could now help me (beeps having ceased) and his reply: “That’s why I answered the phone.”

So I terminated the call and phoned again – to get a very helpful man who hopefully is going to get the problem solved.

(In the background as usual, shrieking and laughing and big conversations – despite the “high call volumes”.)
