Music can set you free

Karabo Mosite writes: I am a young individual who resides in Kew and am one of the many unemployed youth.

It has come to my attention that most disadvantaged youth within my community are not necessarily unemployed due to the lack of jobs, but because of social ills that plague the area.

Also, most of the youth are not looking for work because most of the jobs available require skilled individuals, and the majority have not completed their matric. Those that have completed Grade 12 have not studied further.

The purpose of this letter is to try and narrow the unemployment gap within my community through skills development. One of the ways to achieve this is through music which is one of the major activities that youth engage in and love so passionately.

I would like to offer free DJ lessons to youth to empower them to create jobs for themselves, and fight the unemployment rate in my community. Interested youth can contact me on 060 627 0994.

Can you think of ways in which you can help combat unemployment? Share them with North Eastern Tribune in the comments below.
