It’s a shame that even in this day and age there are people who still believe racial segregation is relevant to our society. Racism is an ugly, bad and an evil phenomenon that has no place in modern society.
It’s time to change the way we think, as people and as societies. We are all equal. No matter our race or religion. I’m not better than you and you are no better than me. And no one is better than us.
We all deserve a chance to succeed in life. Each person can succeed no matter his or her skin colour, religion, nationality or sexual preference. We all deserve the chance of a good life.
Education is the key to achieving an understanding among people, that justice and freedom is based on co-existence and that respecting one another is the way to make earth into a healthier, peaceful, rich and a place for humanity, for us all.
This is what Bishop Desmond Tutu talks about as ubuntu. When we embrace this notion at the deepest levels of ourselves, we see others as a part of us, and we make it possible for change to come to us.
We are in this journey together and we need one another to create a world that supports the highest quality of life for everyone. Our work continues to be that of making it clear that there is no place for any racist way of thinking, and to make an effort to build bridges to one another so we can support the highest quality of life possible for everyone in this country, and across this planet.
