Beverley Cameron, a resident of Sydenham, writes:
I am concerned by the fact that no one at the City Council seems to take seriously the threat of high traffic volumes on Hathorn Avenue in Sydenham caused by the roadworks on Louis Botha Avenue.
It is also concerning that no one appears to be overly concerned by the high number of accidents along the avenue in recent months, with one of the latest resulting in the substation wall being damaged after a car crashed into it.
No repairs whatsoever were affected and, apparently, some council officials paid a visit to the site and put up some barrier tape, but, unfortunately, said barrier tape didn’t quite stop thieves from entering the substation last Friday morning and stealing the main neutral off a transformer; this is what the insurance emergency electrician informed me when he tested my DB board and discovered 380V of power running through it.
I hope fervently that there isn’t another serious accident on the corner (or elsewhere in Hathorn Avenue) whilst the issue is being investigated by the authorities.
