I had an unfortunate experience of my car breaking down at around 6pm. I was on Louis Botha Avenue and managed to get [my car] down from the Victory Theatre to around the Houghton area. As I sat there looking for the AA’s emergency number, a man (of course a stranger) put his head through my window asking whether I needed help.
A pretty rare occurrence these days and one can sometimes feel a little nervous. However Dudley, as he introduced himself, opened up his boot, took out the charger and attempted to recharge my battery.
I later found out from him that his daughter was waiting to be picked up from schoo, however, nothing would prevent him from trying to help. An angel, truly an angel.
And if that was not sufficient, while he was trying to help me, another angel arrived and asked if he could help. He turned out to be a mechanic.
Well, they both tried very hard [but] my car was too ill and needed ICU. Greg, the mechanic, managed to tow my car for me back home. My son came and sat in the towed car [with me].
The third angel was the AA. I have never had such wonderful assistance in my life. Being on my own, (not young at all) and with three such blessed people.
To crown it all off, Dudley called me the next day to ask if I was okay and if I slept well.
I am speechless and overwhelmed – emotional as I write.
God bless you all and thank you with all my heart.
I shall never forget your kindness.
