Elite sports judges announced

SANDTON – The 2017 Discovery Sport Industry hasy announced the elite judging panel for the awards.


The 2017 Discovery Sport Industry Awards has announced its elite judging panel for the judging event set to take place on 18 May at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Judges selected for the prestigious awards boast high levels of business quality and years of experience across a spectrum of industries, from CEOs of conglomerates to directors of corporates. The judges are also well versed in public service, administering roles as trustees, and generally serving the community at large.

The full judging process is designed to be one of transparency, with stringent procedures in place including a two-phase set-up of steering for shortlisting and thereafter judging for the final results adjudication. The steering panel is made up of more than 50 key industry experts with more than 60 hours of intensive steering. The second-phase judging process will be chaired by Serame Taukobong, who boasts years of corporate experience across the continent.

Serame Taukobong, chairperson of the Discovery Sport Industry Awards judging panel said, “It’s an honour and a privilege to be part of this improved process. It’s exciting that the industry is actively engaged in the adjudication process.

“Within our judges panel, I am especially impressed with the quality and extent of experience of the group. I look forward to helping take these awards and the industry forward and congratulate the previous judging panels who have done an excellent job thus far,” said Taukobong.

The personal biographies of the judging panel have been published on the website while independent adjudicator, Deloittes will oversee all phases of the judging process.

Entries have officially opened and will close on 8 February.
