New logo, and identity, for Banyana Banyana

JOBURG – Safa unveiled the new logo during the team's announcement that they will face Japan on 10 November, a small but important step for the women's game.


South Africa’s national women’s football team, Banyana Banyana launched their own new logo on 31 October, a sign of their own identity in the game. 

The South African National Association (Safa) acting CEO Russel Paul said it was important for Banyana Banyana to have heir own identity just like Bafana Bafana, adding that this is seen as a good direction for women’s football.

The new logo was made during coach Desiree Ellis team’s announcement that they will be facing Japan in a friendly match on 10 November.

In the past, Banyana Banyana used the official Safa logo on their T-shirts. The new logo uses the traditional colours of green, black and gold to depict a woman with a ball on her foot.
