Parktown Boys earns SA U18 hockey training camp call-up

Parktown Boys Grade 12 learner Zeyad Davids has been selected for the South African U18 hockey training camp, a dream come true for the young star.

Parktown Boys’ High School learner Zeyad Davids has taken a major step in his sporting journey after being selected for the South Africa U18 hockey training camp.

The Grade 12 learner first picked up a hockey stick in Grade 2 after encouragement from a friend, but it was in high school that his true passion for the sport took off.

“By Grade 8, the passion really came, and I’ve never looked back since,” he said.

Zeyad credits his coaches at Parktown Boys for shaping him into both the player and person he is today, and his family for keeping him motivated through every challenge.

“Early mornings, late nights, hot or freezing weather, they’ve always been there to support me,” he said.

Balancing his schoolwork, a busy seven-day training schedule, and social life hasn’t been easy, but his dedication continues to drive him forward.

“Making the SA U18A squad showed me that with hard work and commitment, you can reach your goals,” he said.

With dreams of one day representing South Africa at the World Cup, Zeyad’s message to young players is simple: “Surround yourself with people who share your goals, stay humble, and always be coachable.”
