Rosebank Primary School cricketers meet their Proteas heroes

ROSEBANK – It’s not every day one gets to meet one’s heroes, but the KFC Mini Cricket squad of Rosebank Primary School got to do just that.

The mini cricketers were chosen to walk onto the field with the Proteas ahead of South Africa’s match against Australia for the second KFC T20 International a the Wanderers Stadium.

The group of young cricketers sang the national anthem with pride alongside their cricketing heroes before one girl of the squad, Nqobile Buthelezi, got the opportunity to assist Proteas captain, Faf du Plessis and Australian captain, Steve Smith in the coin toss.

The Proteas, unfortunately, lost to Australia after Glenn Maxwell and David Warner’s world record fourth-wicket T20 partnership of 161 secured a last-ball, five-wicket win after the Proteas batted first and scored 204/7.
