Sacred Heart College hosts sports festival

Johannesburg – Fun was had by all pupils at a recent sports festival where netball and soccer were of the order of the day.

About 900 pupils from 13 independent Catholic and public schools descended on Sacred Heart College in Observatory on 28 May to participate in the 5th Annual Catholic Primary Schools Mini Soccer and Netball Festival.

More than 48 soccer teams took to the seven fields at the college at different times throughout the day, with 18 teams sometimes playing in matches simultaneously. A total of 96 soccer matches were played on the day. The netball tournament saw 42 teams playing in a total of 96 matches.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the youngsters to exercise and participate in a sporting activity, while having fun and learning about team spirit – all in a safe environment.

Sacred Heart College congratulates all pupils who participated in the festival and we commend everyone for showing great sportsmanship. We thank all the schools that participated. It was a huge success.
