Simply the best
HIGHLANDS NORTH – Local school's rowing team is the best school sports team in the country.
St Mary’s School, Waverley is now indisputably the best of the best when it comes to school rowing.
The Highlands North school received the award for School Team of the Year at the South African Sports Awards 2017 during a glitzy, glamorous event at Emperors Palace on 12 November.
This is the first time a girls sporting team has won this award.
Another Joburg team to receive recognition on the night was the Golden Lions Rugby Union, earning a nomination for Team of the Year after making it to the Super Rugby final.
Former St Stithians College learner, Kagiso Rabada was also nominated for the People’s Choice Award.

Long jumper, Luvo Manyonga bagged both the Sports Star of the Year and Sportsman of the Year awards, while Caster Semenya was Sportswoman of the Year as well as People’s Choice Award winner.
