Parkview School houses face-off in much-anticipated athletics day
PARKVIEW – Cooperative weather allowed the Parkview Senior School to hold a successful athletics day with a great turnout.
Parents, learners and teachers at Parkview Senior School all flocked to the school’s sports field for the much-anticipated athletics day.
The learners were dressed in the appropriate colours for their inter-house competitions. A lot of participants were present including the very young, adorable runners from the junior school.

“It’s one of our highlights to watch the little ones running,” Grade 7 head of department Usha Bahadur said. She thanked all the parents and organisers of the event including the head of sports at the school, Tyrone Pugh. “An event of this nature takes a lot of planning and a lot of hard work. Learners’ spirit was exceptional and everything ran so smoothly.”
These were the winners on the day:
- U12 girls 400m: Ashley King
- Tug of War for girls: Eagles
- Tug of War for boys: Kestrels
- 4th place: Hawks with 140 points
- 3rd place: Falcons with 185 points
- 2nd place: Kestrels with 194 points
- 1st place: Eagles with 197 points
Pugh said all the athletes who placed in the top four positions for the day in their respective age groups were invited to join the athletics team. “Our athletes train once a week for an hour and a half and have athletics meeting once a week. We have really high hopes and expectations for our athletes this year and I know that they are all going to excel in their respective events. Wishing all the athletes a very successful and enjoyable season.”
