Greenside High School start their basketball season with wins

GREENSIDE – Young ballers look forward to their next game.

Greenside High School got their third term basketball season underway with wins against Sandringham High School on 23 July.

The girls were able to beat their counterparts 20–7 while the boys cruised to a 16–5 victory. The half-time score for the Greenside girls was 8–0 while the boys were 9–1 ahead. Sandringham did start playing with a bit more structure and control in the second half but it was not enough to overturn the final result.

The dynamic partnership in the Greenside girls team between Sasha Joseph and Onenda Olenga was the difference between the two teams and this is the formula their coach Vinsencia Dyanda will rely upon during the course of the season.

Joseph scored 10 points and Olenga eight. Olenga, who plays for the Junior National Basketball Association team, Mercury, was a two-way threat as she dominated both offence and defence in the game.
