Learner achieves top result at SA Programming Olympiad

Andy was also applauded by the Institute of IT Professionals South Africa for achieving bronze at the International Olympiad for Informatics earlier this year.

St John’s College learner Andy Qu was awarded the Standard Bank trophy and gold medal for placing first in the South African Programming Olympiad recently.

The Olympiad assesses learners’ problem solving and programming ability. Their solutions need to be fast and efficient as well as correct.

Learners of 93 schools across South Africa entered and Andy achieved 100 per cent for the first two rounds and went on to score the highest result in the third and final round.

Andy was also applauded by the Institute of IT Professionals South Africa for achieving bronze at the International Olympiad for Informatics earlier this year.
