Innovation, style and a lot of passion all in one!
HYDE PARK – From a small town just outside Joburg to an affluent hub in the city we catch up with innovator, Jarred Doyle.
A communications strategist and celebrity publicist by profession, this Hyde Park resident wears many hats. “My latest hat was being a TV producer and presenter on my show called Hashtags, it was very much a challenge,” he said. Brainchild behind the show, Doyle was excited to see his vision become a reality.
Joined by creative talents Sophie Lichaba, Mantsoe Pout and Francois Louw, he had the perfect blend. “Hashtags is a fun, energetic, family-friendly panel talk show tackling issues that affect millennial’s which we term Hashtags,” he explained. The show features fun activity segments, musical performances and celebrity interviews.
Season one ended off with a bang, season two is well under way on our screens and more excitement might be in store. Going back a few years, the B Comm graduate from the University of Johannesburg shared that he has always enjoyed telling stories. “I always enjoyed PR and strategic communications was the ‘technical term’ for what I was doing.”
When he first started in the digital sphere, social media sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter were not as popular as they are now. “I’m literally one of the founders of social media-related jobs and influencers in SA,” he said proudly. His journey in the industry has taught him valuable lessons.
“Always have contracts, trust God and follow your instincts.” His consulting firm JD Consulting was built on just that along with sacrifice and pure passion. Now that it’s flourishing, Doyle treasures the time spent with his family. “When I was building my business I hardly had time for my family, now I make sure that’s what I do.”
An ardent nature lover, Doyle’s favourite pastime is taking trips with close friends – immersed in nature’s beauty. Also a fashionista of note, Doyle is enjoying dark colours this spring with bespoke brands, Tommy Hilfiger, Ben Sherman and Paul Smith being some of his faves. With no set future plans, he maintained that life is always changing. “I used to have plans for the future, now I have a few ideas but I don’t hold my breath. “Life changes and as the saying goes, ‘God laughs at our plans’, so trust Him and just live in the now and enjoy.”
